Dead Island Riptide – Completed

Posted on 06/06/2014 Written by gospvg

Easily one of the worst endings in a game, dreadful poor cliffhanger but then that does not really surprise me given the voice acting is dreadful & the plot is poor but in some odd b-movie style there is still a sense of enjoyment in the game when slicing zombies with your electrified katana blade.

Next on the list Ghost Recon Future Soldier.

Dead Island Riptide – It’s all about the mods

Posted on 30/04/2014 Written by gospvg

Not posted about Dead Island Riptide since the New Game post so a quick update.

Dead Island Riptide fun factor comes from the various mods you can collect throughout the game.

These are found scattered around the island & you need a base weapon with some materials to create the mod from any workbench.

I created a High Voltage (upgraded version of the shock mod) in the recent PMG with a Sugar Cane Knife some duct tape, wire, battery & electronic scrap. It does a very nice 1000+ damage.

I also collected a Medieval mod yesterday but I don't have a base weapon to create this yet.

The story is progressing along we are on chapter 7 having gone through some tunnels to face a boss fight against The Wrestler. Lots of fire damage & grenades helped us bring him down.

Arriving at the ferry station we were met by thugs who wanted to take all our gear, that ended in them meeting a 'group fury' & getting pummeled to death.

New Game – Dead Island Riptide

Posted on 23/01/2014 Written by gospvg

I got bored of playing Borderlands 2 & GTAV multi-player was only a short lived experience. Developers seem to be focussing on multiplayer or single player experiences so not many more co-op games left to play on the 360. Next gen seems to be moving towards introducing the MMO experience which I'm looking forward to playing with Destiny & The Division.

Back to the 360 & Dead Island Riptide, the story follows on from the first game with the same characters. I did not keep my save from the first game so started a new character with Xian. Your helicopter lands on a military ship & after quite a bit of FMV to lay down the foundations for the story you finally get to control your character through a prologue section. The prologue section is a tutorial to the games control, I lost sound part way through which lessened the experience but good to see the game keeps its trademarks bugs from the first game.

After the prologue surprise surprise you land on another island, I'm disappointed that the developer seems to have stuck with the same formula from the first game. When you land on the island you can then send out party invites & join up for some 4 player questing, zombie slashing & looting.

Beggars can't be choosers & the Claptrap Boys don't really have anything to play....

96: Magic Beans
byugvm

What is this word “late” which you are saying? I do not recognise it and I do not understand it and I do not wish to believe it exists! Episode 96 cannot be late, for it was never scheduled. Sir, you embarrass yourself.

Arguments about timetabling aside, we would like to invite you to enjoy this most recent (at time of typing) episode of your favourite podcast! deKay, Kendrick and Orrah huddled round a warm bucket of cocoa and discussed, to varying lengths, the important news of our time – including Nintendo’s Mario Direct, more unfortunate developers losing their jobs because Money, Microsoft increasing the price of Game Pass (again, because Money) and Starbreeze getting several years into developing an eagerly anticipated Dungeons & Dragons game before pulling the plug because, well, Money. Thankfully, there’s some Good Stuff too, like chat about these games.
