New Section: Game Over, Yeah!!

Posted on 07/04/2011 Written by deKay

You may have noticed a new link up there on the menu bar – one to my new site (or sub-site? Maybe). It’s called “Game Over, Yeah!!” and it’s a site (sub-site, whatever) with a purpose:

It’s Game Over, Yeah!!

A video site with a simple premise. I play games and record them for your watching pleasure. Only there’s a catch: when I lose my first life, it’s Game Over, Yeah!!

Will I last ten minutes? Ten seconds? Who knows!

Why not click the link and see the exciting videos? Gwan!

Even More Crap

Posted on 02/03/2011 Written by deKay

All my CSCCGC entries are now online in a playable form! Wow at the graphics! Thrill at the playablility! Groan at the “jokes”! Hate at the controls!

Thirteen fabulous Spectrum games to choose from. Every one a winner! (Note: I never won the CSSCGC).

Don’t delay – hurry over to the CGC page right now! The “fun” starts here!

Some more crap

Posted on 04/02/2011 Written by deKay

I’ve added all my comp.sys.sinclair Crap Games Competition entries to the site (again). Hurrah!

Well, I say “all”, I stupidly entered a few games last year and they’re not there yet. But they will be soon. Also! I’ll make them all playable with an emulator, so you’ll be able to amaze at them in motion. Although some of them don’t move. Hmm. Anyway!

They’re all here.

ugvm Back Issues

Posted on 03/12/2010 Written by deKay

Once upon a time, I was editor of a fabulous free video gaming magazine called ugvm. It was ace. But, due to to the amount of work it involved I ended up giving it up. However, the back issues are now on this site in a lovely read-on-your-screen format! Hurrah!

You can see them on the ugvm page.

Lego Universe (PC)

Posted on 27/10/2010 Written by choobs

Crumbs! I doubt very much if Blizzard are weeping into their cornflakes at this one, but they probably should be. This is pretty similar to the Lego [Star Wars|Indiana jones|Batman] games, with one subtle difference. It’s an MMO. Yes, a bit like World of Warcraft. But with one major difference. It’s a lot of fun. Rather than spending all your time pointlessly grinding Instance Dungeons in the vain hope that some particular part of epic loot drops, Lego Universe is all about imagination and creativity. You can build just about anything you like. You can go adventuring on your own or as a team. Forget priests, mages and warriors – in this you get to be a ninja, or a pirate, or something equally awesome. And did I mention it’s a lot of fun?

Don’t let the 8-12 target age range fool you – I’m a 40 year old RPG fan and I’m having a blast. As are my teenage ‘twitch-shooter’ addict sons and my ten year old daughter. Everyone is getting something out of it.

So, while Blizzard needn’t be worried about losing subscribers to LU, they could take the lesson from it that mindlessly grinding 500 raptors in the hope that ten of them will drop a head (!) is less entertaining than building ‘poofy’ the giraffe out of lego and charging around the landscape on him.

96: Magic Beans
byugvm

What is this word “late” which you are saying? I do not recognise it and I do not understand it and I do not wish to believe it exists! Episode 96 cannot be late, for it was never scheduled. Sir, you embarrass yourself.

Arguments about timetabling aside, we would like to invite you to enjoy this most recent (at time of typing) episode of your favourite podcast! deKay, Kendrick and Orrah huddled round a warm bucket of cocoa and discussed, to varying lengths, the important news of our time – including Nintendo’s Mario Direct, more unfortunate developers losing their jobs because Money, Microsoft increasing the price of Game Pass (again, because Money) and Starbreeze getting several years into developing an eagerly anticipated Dungeons & Dragons game before pulling the plug because, well, Money. Thankfully, there’s some Good Stuff too, like chat about these games.
