Army of Two – Devil’s Cartel

Posted on 03/02/2014 Written by gospvg

The 360 console has been the king of local co-op gaming from the Lego games to Halo & Gears of War but Army of Two for me has been the co-op shooter series. Mission based, agro fueled, bullet spraying chaos.

The Devils Cartel continues the series fine tuned experience giving you the armory section to specialise your weapons & purchase new upgrades. Customise your character with unique masks & camouflage your armour or weapons.

The story in this game is your usual South American cartel affair nothing original but the missions so far have been very fast paced & have thrown up a few nice moments inc sniping whilst inside a helicopter & manning a turret to defend your co-op player.

Aggro remains from the previous games & you can use it to attract the attention of enemies whilst the other player flanks to take them out. The few missions we have completed have not shown the series rock, paper & scissors joke or the back to back sequence yet.

You are escorting a politician convoy that comes under attack from the cartels gunmen who seemed to be pretty well equipped with rocket launchers & grenades. A flashback gives you a tutorial mission & also an opportunity to meet up with the series protagonists Rios & Salem for a mission.

This may potentially be our last local co-op game for the 360 & so far it's an enjoyable experience.

Bit.Trip Presents…Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien (Wii U)

Posted on 02/02/2014 Written by deKay

Bullseye_Less than four pounds on the eShop? Don’t mind if I do, sir. Especially since I had eShop credit that I didn’t pay for.

I liked the original Bit.Trip Runner, but it was so hard. I never got very far it – not even half way. It looked great and I loved the idea, but it was just too hard.

This is also hard. Not quite too hard yet, and I’ve finished World 2 without as many fails as I was expecting, so there may be hope yet. I’m a bit concerned there are twice as many moves as the original Runner, as I can see later levels becoming something akin to playing Chopin’s Prelude No. 16. Without ever having seen a piano.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (3DS)

Posted on 01/02/2014 Written by deKay

tumblr_n0ags1xhol1svmpf2o1_400I’m done.

Well, OK. So I haven’t done Hero Mode yet, but for this playthrough, I’m done. I’ve done everything. Every dungeon finished, every weapon obtained and upgraded, every maiamai rescued, every treasure found, and every item counter (rupees, monster parts, hearts, etc.) maxxed out. Everything. All done.

And in just 23 hours too. I didn’t want it end so soon!

Titan Souls (Web): COMPLETED!

Posted on 31/01/2014 Written by deKay

Titan_Souls_EndIs this a first? As in, a web-based (well, Flash) game that I’ve completed? Sort of. I mean, I’ve completed Cookie Clicker and Clicking Bad, but they’re not really proper games (are they?). Does this count as a proper game?

Yes. I think it does. OK then.

Titan Souls is, it appears, a purposefully terribly-named 2D top-down mini version of Shadow of the Colossus. Only with just four Colossi. And your only weapon is a single arrow you have to retrieve after you use it. And each colossus only takes two hits to kill (well, one to wake them up, one to kill them). And you don’t climb them.

OK, so not a lot like Shadow of the Colossus – or Attack on Titan or Dark Souls after both of which it is named.

But it’s hard, and fun for the time it takes to complete, which isn’t long despite how hard it is, and the end of game boss is very clever indeed. I did a little squeal when I realised the trick to it.

Want to play it? It’s here and free.
