Destiny – The Dark Below

Posted on 10/12/2014 Written by gospvg

The Dark Below is the latest expansion to Destiny, adding a few story missions, couple of strikes & a new raid.

I completed the story missions yesterday with Hakk & managed to get a new upgraded rocket launcher "The Cure" which does 331 damage when fully upgraded. You also get a fusion rifle that can switch between arc or solar damage when completing the story missions. Handy for taking out shields but I still prefer to have my sniper rifle equipped.

The story missions use various locations on earth & moon that I have already played enough with slight variations & the odd extra room added on, they are still quite challenging especially on hard difficulty.

Armour can now be purchased from the traders with a +33 light rating this will help me reach level 30 & above. I had enough vanguard marks to purchase some new gloves, just now need to fully upgrade them to get the max light rating.

Just when I thought I had broken free, Destiny has me hooked again.

Destiny Crota’s End – Raid Club

Posted on 09/12/2014 Written by gospvg

1st Rule
You DO NOT read, watch any guides or articles about the raid. We must go into the raid knowing absolutely nothing & enjoy that fresh feeling figuring it out ourselves.

2nd Rule
You must be available to play Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday evening 8pm to 11pm. (This we can organise via PSN/Twitter but you need to be committed to at least 2 or 3 sessions a week each two to three hours long).

3rd Rule
You must be Level 30 to enter the raid (happy to wait for the team to level up before we start raiding).

4th Rule
Ideally have a twitter account for easy communication to organise sessions.

Forza Horizon 2 – Nissan GTR

Posted on 08/12/2014 Written by gospvg

I was hoping I would have more time to enjoy Forza Horizon 2 this weekend but I only managed to complete a handful of events. Enough though to purchase the Nissan GTR and apply some upgrades.

The game did on a couple of occasions freeze the 360 console whilst loading up the menu or rewarding me with credits. Thankfully it did not lose any progress or corrupt my game save.

Simple things I take for granted on the PS4 like share a screenshot or upload a video to youtube I really miss on the Xbox 360.

Did not get a chance to play much else except the Destiny raid effort yesterday evening. I did watch the PS Experience Keynote on Saturday which was very impressive with lots of new games to look forward to in 2015.

Destiny Gorgon Maze & Jumping Section

Posted on 08/12/2014 Written by gospvg

The previous raid I was stuck on the jumping section for at least an hour I think, so it was a relief yesterday when I managed to complete it with my first attempt !!

We got all the way to the last boss fight but it was so glitchy giving us the loot but no checkpoint for Atheon.

Mega Man 5 (Wii U): COMPLETED!

Posted on 07/12/2014 Written by deKay

Tedious_boss_rush.Yes, this did take a while longer than previous Mega Mans (Men?). Not in terms of actual play time, as this came in at a little over 4 hours, so slightly shorter than Mega Man 4 (bucking the trend of Mega Man games getting longer in sequence!), but in terms of number of weeks over which I played it.

Charge_kick_doesn_t_do_anything_My excuse is HYRULE WARRIORS, which has eaten most of any game time I have. I’ll turn the Wii U on, intending to play Mega Man or UnEpic or Mario Kart 8, but ending up with Hyrule Warriors instead. Occasionally, sometimes, eventually, my finger has managed to successfully prod Mega Man 5 and I’ll play for a few levels.

This game’s “new thing”, as each game has so far added something, is Beat. A semi intelligent homing attack bird robot. Obviously. So pointless is Beat, that I didn’t even consider using it until the final boss battle.

1337As for the rest of the game, it was more of the same. You can see they were really struggling with robot bosses and powers at this point, as many were retreads of previous ones. One of the levels tried to be a bit different with a sort of jetski section, but it was frustratingly hard and, ultimately, crap. Still, at least there was nothing as rubbish as Top Man’s awful flying spin-kick power, although the Charge Kick neared it. The final boss was similar to a previous boss (in Mega Man 3, I think – at this point they’re all starting to blur into one), but somehow even easier. Especially with Beat. Disappointing, in a way.

Overall I’d have to say it wasn’t as good as Mega Man 4, but better than 3, even though this breaks my until-now perfect run of sequentially better Mega Man titles. 4>5>3>2>1. I suppose it also breaks the run of getting bigger each time too, since it’s slightly shorter than 4. 6 next? Aye, go on then.
