Devil’s Attorney – Better Call Saul

Posted on 13/11/2013 Written by gospvg

Devil's Attorney is a freebie I picked up off the App Store at the weekend with no in-app purchases or adverts. It's very well made & has a great intro song, you play an attorney who is at the start of his career & takes on cases to gain money. You can then use this moment to upgrade your apartment, which is turn boosts your skills.

When you take a case the game then goes turn-based & let you use your action points to play any of the skills you have & choose either the opposing attorney, witness or evidence to attack. I love the humour in the game, the turn based action is very enjoyable. Using the money you earn to purchase items for your apartment will increase either your Materialism, Decadence or Vanity unlocking new skills you can use in the courtroom.

Wii Sports Club: 2006 as it should have been

Posted on 12/11/2013 Written by Xexyz

Wii Sports was a fantastic game - back at the launch of the Wii, we played it more than anything else, and it continued to occupy me for some time afterwards.  Its inclusive nature means that it still gets brought out very often for social occasions (but less often since Nintendo Land came onto the scene), the most memorable time being when I beat Ken.

It's now been updated - or at least part of it has - with better visuals, online modes, and an extortionate price tag.  Luckily, of the five games included in the original Wii Sports, the two best are out already and there's no need to buy the other three.

I've spent a bit of time on both Tennis and Bowling - to the extent that my shoulders are aching.  Tennis sees the most obvious improvements, with motionplus giving much better control over the player, and online meaning that you can find a decent set of opponents to play against.

I've been starting with the offline mode to get into the swing of things, and amusingly the third game had me paired up against a couple of OAPs.  I beat them, just.

I've spent more time bowling, where the online leaderboards add a lot to the game.  Oddly, deKay posted a score of 214 to Miiverse, but the leaderboard showed him with a lower score.  I was incredibly annoyed when I scored three points less than his claimed score.

A couple of games later, though, I got the hang of the controls, and managed to get five strikes in a row, at the end of the game.

This meant that I ended up with a pretty good score.

The online modes for bowling are a little odd; you watch everyone else taking their turn and can send pre-programmed phrases offering encouragement, congratulations or commiserations.  As with tennis, any games you play are racked up in your 'club' score, and you define which club you wish to be a member of, theoretically by stating where you live.

I'm helping England South East here.

Remember Me – Completed

Posted on 12/11/2013 Written by gospvg

The last few chapters of the game give you a few unexpected story twists which I liked, equally there a few boss fights that will make you really stop & think about what strategy or s-pressen skills to use. The last boss fight proving very difficult with it's three stages took me a few attempts before I figured it out.

Remember Me vs Batman Arkham Origins and most gamers would choose Batman but what Remember Me does well is that it works with no issues at all. No bugs, crashes or corrupted saves. I'm still waiting for WB Games to confirm they have fixed the corrupted save issue before I attempt to play the game again.

With my PS4 pre-order now cancelled (Yes!! I have changed my mind again) I have the next 12 months to start working on my current backlog & look at the games I have missed this generation that I really should play. Next on the list though is a return to Fallout New Vegas & Old World Blues DLC.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies (3DS)

Posted on 11/11/2013 Written by deKay

pw5-1So, so good. The plots in these cases are just so well thought out. The way Apollo/Athena/Phoenix suddenly turn an inescapable “guilty” verdict into the exact opposite by reversing the way the murder could have been committed is always masterful.

The drama in the courtroom is tense, and the buildups to the end of each case are as adrenalin fuelled as much as any FPS boss battle. Not bad for an interactive story about lawyers…

This evening I finished up Case 4, which ended on a pretty massive bombshell. Well, not literally a bombshell (for once – one of the other cases ended with an actual bomb). I was expecting a twist, but the character who has now been fingered as the murderer is not who I was expecting.

Some fingerprints show the murderer to be

Spoiler Inside SelectShow
Athena

but I was expecting

Apollo

Hmm!

Champ Man – Premier League

Posted on 11/11/2013 Written by gospvg

Off to a bad start in the premier league losing my first three games, I tried pre-season to sign a few players without breaking my wage limit of 20K but the first three results left me with no choice but to go and splash out my transfers funds & break my wage limit.

The three players I signed were goalkeeper Sepe (83), leftback Sini (87) & striker Dybala (88) my target for the season is to avoid relegation. Hopefully with the three players signed I can survive until the January transfer window.

95: Bother Me Anatomically
byugvm

Unforeseen circumstances, and definitely not Podcast Apathy, resulted in just deKay and Kendrick bringing you this episode, but don’t worry! As a bonus to make up for the cast shortfall, Episode 95 is slightly shorter, so you’ve less to endure! Rejoice.

This time around, your heroes discuss the general meh-ness of recent gaming news, the Switch 2 having no games, a new Lego Batman (and Batman in general), and Ys X Proud Nordics. With, naturally, many deviations and diversions.
